Monday, August 15, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a feast that came to be celebrated as early as the fifth century. It is the patronal feast of our own Diocese. Usually it is celebrated as a holy day of obligation. However, according to recent norms approved by the bishops of our country, since it falls on a Monday, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated (rescinded). Nevertheless, love for our Blessed Mother should spur us to honor her in our daily prayers and our attendance at Mass in any event. We shall follow the weekday schedule (7:00 and 8:00 AM).
