    In December 2018, a young expectant mother, just 23 weeks along in her pregnancy, was admitted to a hospital in San Diego. The mother was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, which could have lead to fatal complications for the mother and baby. To save her life, doctors ordered a Caesarean section, and a young baby girl, nicknamed Saybie, was born.     Valerie is one of 26 teens recognized by the Diocese of Trenton this year for their exemplary involvement in the life of their parish. The St. Timothy Award—named for the young disciple and companion of St. Paul—recognizes young people who live out their faith by their humility, leadership, ministry, service, and holiness. Valerie serves at Mass and has been very active in OLS-SA’s youth group, encouraging teens from the parish’s Haitian Community to participate in the group’s activities.
