During this month the names of our beloved deceased, indicated on the envelopes you have returned, will be placed upon the altars of our churches. There they will remain for prayerful remembrance. This custom, conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures, will take place in our parish at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 4. (Rain date/time: 6 p.m. on Friday, October 5). All parishioners are invited to bring their pets to the Peace Garden at Our Lady of Sorrows (outside, to the left of the Lower Church Hall doors) for this special blessing.

The USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities began a Novena for the Legal Protection of Life on Friday, August 3, which will continue until Friday, September 28. This nine-week effort will include prayer and fasting for the intention that this change in the membership of the Supreme Court will move our nation closer to the day when every human being is protected in law and welcomed in life.
