Let us remember in our prayers our Holy Father Pope Leo XIV who celebrates this Friday, May 8, the first anniversary of his election to the papacy.

The reception of the Holy Eucharist for the first time is always a cherished day in the life of the faithful. Congratulations of our young first communicants who received Our Lord this weekend at the 10:30 am Mass at Saint Anthony Church and the older students at the 5:00 pm Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

We have begun the month of May which by long tradition is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let us turn to the Mother of God during this time to pray for peace in the world, the Church, our parish, and our personal needs.

Thanks to all who visited the recent Shroud of Turin Exhibit sponsored by our “Lumen Christi Cohort.” We hope this Cohort initiative, appropriately held during Lent, inspired and educated the faithful on this extraordinary relic that reveals the extent of the Lord’s passion and death. We congratulate the fifty-one boys and girls who will be receiving the Holy Eucharist for the first time this Saturday, May 2. We thank their parents and catechists for preparing them so well for this sacred encounter.

The Diocesan Office of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is seeking a Catholic committed to social justice for an internship program. The intern will work 10 to 14 hours per week through the school year or possibly during the summer. If interested, click here for more information.

Feeding the hungry never ceases to be important. Food pantries always need staples such as peanut butter, jelly, cereal, soup, pasta, pasta sauce, and canned vegetables, but any non-perishables you can donate to Mt Carmel Guild or St Raphael’s Food Pantry are greatly appreciated. Just place them in the receptacles at the doors of our churches.

This month's prayer shawl meeting will be held on Monday, April 20, at 1:00 PM in the Church Meeting Room. Please bring any completed projects to donate, and any extra yarn you will not be needing. We welcome new members, even if you don't yet know how to crochet. We would be happy to teach you!
