This year, the penitential season of Lent begins on March 2. Please bring in all old palms to be burned and used for ashes on Ash Wednesday. Beginning next week, there will be containers at all the exit doors on the weekends to hold the palms. Please bring all palms in before February 28.

The Holy Season of Lent is observed this year from Ash Wednesday (March 2) until Holy Thursday (April 14). The Bishops of the United States have prescribed that this season be marked by more intense prayer, works of charity, and penance. Among these are the practices of fasting and abstinence. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence: All Catholics 18 - 59 years of age are restricted to one full meal. Two lesser meals are permitted. All Catholics over 14 years of age must abstain from meat.

Around sunset (7:32 PM) on Holy Saturday evening, while Paschal Candles are being lit at Easter Vigils, the clergy, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Trenton are invited to safely display a lighted candle (such as those used at Christmas) in the window of their homes, as a symbol of our unity with Catholics throughout the world.
