This Thursday, January 25, the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, marks the 30th anniversary of episcopal ordination of our Bishop Emeritus, John M. Smith. Let us remember in our prayers Bishop Smith, who served as our diocesan bishop from 1997 to 2010. His episcopal motto was “Serve the Lord with Gladness.” Bishop Smith, now 82, resides at Morris Hall Meadows, Lawrenceville, a diocesan nursing facility.

With much gratitude we acknowledge the faithful service of our parish trustees, Joseph Novak and Michael Stewart who have served our community for the past six years, and announce that David Uhaze and Maria Ialacci will succeed Joseph and Michael as lay trustees of our parish. Having attained his 75th year (yes he is 75!), Deacon James Challender submitted his letter of retirement to the Most Reverend Bishop in accord with diocesan policy. Click the article title for more information on Deacon Jim, and on the upcoming opportunity to wish him a happy retirement.

Summer hours (i.e., early closing on Fridays) will end on September 1. Effective September 8, the parish office will again remain open until 4:30 PM on Fridays. The parish office will be closed on Monday, September 4 (Labor Day). Enjoy a safe and restful holiday weekend!

Priesthood Sunday, October 30, is a day especially chosen to celebrate the sacrament of Holy Orders - the sacrament of priestly dedication. This Sunday, we acknowledge and honor the priests of our parish. Msgr. Tom and Fr. Jean serve us with holy guidance, patient teaching, and gentle spiritual encouragement. They deliver an opportunity for us to grow closer to God as they serve "in the person of Christ." Their vocation calls them to serve as pastoral counselors for our spiritual journey. Now let us offer prayer and heartfelt thanks for their sacrifice and commitment.
