Our Summer Religious Education Program begins tomorrow, June 23. May our young students deepen their love and knowledge of the Lord though the classes and activities of the next two weeks. We thank our Director of Religious Education and our catechists for organizing and carrying out this important ministry.

As many of you know, our popular Summer Bible Camp has been suspended since the pandemic. We would very much like to bring it back this summer, but need to determine if there is sufficient interest on the part of our families. Click here for more information.

Volunteers are needed to help decorate Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Good Friday immediately after The Seven Last Words Service (approximately 7:30 pm). This is a great opportunity for our students to receive service hours. Help us adorn the Lord’s House for the celebration of His Resurrection!

As part of their preparation for First Communion our children are reflecting on the important of sharing and generosity as they consider the Gospel event of the boy who offered his two fish and five loaves to Jesus for the feeding of the crowd…a foreshadowing of the Eucharist. Congratulations to those young parishioners who were confirmed this weekend. We thank their parents, sponsors, and catechists, who prepared them for the gift of the Holy Spirit, and His Excellency David M. O’Connell, C.M, Bishop of Trenton, who conferred the sacrament.

Our newly confirmed and their families enjoyed a wonderful brunch last week hosted by the candidates in their first year of preparation following the 11:00 am Mass. We are very grateful for all the work that went into making the reception such a beautiful tribute to the newly confirmed.

Next Sunday (March 30), our Confirmation candidates will join us at the 11:00 am Mass. It will be an occasion to congratulate and pray for them as approach their Confirmation on Saturday, April 5. The candidates in their 1st year of preparation will host a brunch for them after the Mass!

Our parish rejoices with the boys and girls who will experience for the first time on Saturday, March 8, the Sacrament of Penance. We thank their good parents and the catechists who have prepared them for this sacred encounter with the Lord of love and mercy!

This Wednesday, February 5, our Confirmation candidates will have a unique experience in their sacramental preparation. They will gather at a local restaurant with questions for Monsignor Gervasio about Confirmation and living their Catholic faith, and enjoy a little pizza at the same time!

There will be a retreat for the students (and their parents) who will be making their First Penance this year. The retreat will be held on the morning of Saturday, February 1, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
