The blessing of pets will take place on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi @10 AM on Saturday, Oct. 4 (rain date/time: 3 PM. on Sunday, Oct. 5), at the Peace Garden at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

The Cohort Mission team is asking for volunteers during the mission (held on October 6 -8) to greet and usher people, to direct parking, and to make sure any debris left in the church is picked up. We need your names by September 22 to print name tags! Click here for details.

October is Respect Life Month, and we are asking all parishioners who know how to crochet, knit, quilt, etc. to make a baby blanket during October for the local crisis pregnancy center. Give these mothers the gift of knowing someone cares enough to create a soft, bright, welcoming blanket for their baby. Click here for more information.

Please join us at the New Jersey Bishops' Mass for Life, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, in Trenton, on Thursday, September 25. Then, a short walk away at the Statehouse Annex, the NJ Rally & March for Life will be held at 11:00 AM. Click here for details.

The Prayer Shawl group will meet this month on September 15, at 1:00 PM, in the Church Meeting Room at Our Lady of Sorrows. Our Mission is to create prayer shawls, lap robes, and dialysis blankets for those under treatment, and for those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We also create baby blankets for distribution at local Pro-Life pregnancy centers. We are always delighted to welcome new members, even if you don't yet know how to crochet. Next weekend (September 13-14), Mt. Carmel Guild's Restaurant Raffle Tickets will be on sale after Masses at Our Lady of Sorrows, to benefit the Guild's charitable works.

On September 11, we remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001, and pray for them, their families, our country, and our world.

Feeding the hungry never ceases to be important. Food pantries always need staples such as peanut butter, jelly, cereal, soup, pasta, pasta sauce, and canned vegetables, but any nonperishables you can donate to Mt Carmel Guild or St Raphael’s Food Pantry are greatly appreciated. Just place them in the receptacles at the doors of our churches.
