Our parish extends best wishes and prayers to our bookkeeper, Clara Gioe, as she retires on July 1! Her departure brings to a close a long and dedicated career of nearly three decades to the Church, in both the Dioceses of Metuchen and Trenton. Twenty-six of those years have been spent with our parish. In 2000, she joined the staff of Saint Anthony parish as bookkeeper and shortly after the merger with Our Lady of Sorrows, continued in that role for our community.
As our bookkeeper over these many years, Clara has balanced her financial acumen with a great pastoral sense. She has ensued that our parish resources were handled with integrity while supporting clergy, staff, and our parishioners. In so many areas, Clara has carried out this important work behind the scenes, faithfully and joyfully. She has often referred to her work, not just as a "job" but as a ministry.
On behalf of our staff and all our parishioners, we thank Clara for her exceptional tenure that has helped us remain on a solid financial basis. She has been a blessing to our parish, and we ask the Lord to continue to bless her and her husband Ben! We wish them both discovery, relaxation, and joy in the years ahead. May they enjoy every minute!
