While the Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows is celebrated on September 15, liturgical norms allow that a patronal feast of a parish may be transferred to Sunday in order to render greater honor to a community’s heavenly intercessor and protector. In fact, the day is given the rank of a Solemnity. Accordingly, in our parish, at all Masses next weekend, the texts will not be those of the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time but of the Solemnity of our Patroness, Mary, Mother of Sorrows.
