Masses and Services

Ash Wednesday, February 18

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence from meat for all Catholics 14 years of age and older.

Honoring St. Joseph,  Thursday, March 19, 7:00 PM

Join us for Mass on Thursday, March 19 for a Solemn Mass, at 7:00 AM to honor St. Joseph. The traditional blessing of the Table of St. Joseph will follow in the Church Hall.

Exposition follows the 9:00 Mass and continues until 1:30 PM.
(NB: Funerals may interrupt Adoration Time.)

Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)

Eucharistic Adoration

Every Thursday is a day of Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. During Lent, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed following the 9:00 AM Mass, until Reposition at 1:30 PM.

Morning funerals may interrupt adoration time. Call the Parish Office (587-4372) to verify.

Mass with Anointing of the Sick

Will be held on Thursday, March 12, at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church,
Rev. Brian Butch, Celebrant.

Stations of the Cross (The Via Crucis)

Stations of the Cross are held in both churches at 7:00 PM during Lent. At Our Lady of Sorrows, Stations are in English, and at St. Anthony, Stations are in Creole.

On Good Friday, the Seven Last Words will be presented at OLS instead of the Stations of the Cross.

The Seven Last Words

On the evening of Good Friday, we shall hold a service on the "Seven Last Words" Jesus uttered as He hung upon the Cross. It is a tradition that dates back to the 17th century, and includes hymns, prayers, and brief reflections on each of the "seven words." Join us for this moving evening of prayer and reflection.

Our Parish's Work of Love

Lent is a time for almsgiving. In this Lenten season, we ask your help for the expansion of St. Lucy School in Adigrat, Ethiopia

St. Lucy School in Adigrat is stretched beyond limits: The Religious Teachers Filippini have launched a project to build additional classrooms, a dining hall, a nap room, and gathering space. The recently concluded four year civil war made education nearly impossible, and the country’s most vulnerable—the children—desire to reclaim their education. On the first registration day, 1,400 children (K-8) arrived and are waiting for placement. Stand with the Religious Teachers Filippini in their mission to give the children the gift of hope, learning, and a future filled with possibility.

Throughout Lent, the donations made to the Poor Boxes at the doors of our churches will be dedicated to “Hope Reborn in Ethiopia”  You may also wish to mail your gift to the parish office or place it in an envelope clearly marked “Hope Reborn in Ethiopia” and drop it in the collection basket.
