May is the Month of Mary

Mary brought to her prayer that attitude of heart, mind, and being that says, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening. (1 Sam 3:10) Her heart was a vessel of silence where his voice would not be drowned out by a thousand competing voices, each clamoring for attention. Her heart was attentive; she waited for his Word, and when it came, she devoted herself to it completely.

With St. Bernard let us pray:

"I believe, Lord, but let me believe more firmly. I hope, but let me hope more confidently; I love, but let me love more ardently. I grieve, but let me grieve more deeply. I offer you, Lord, my thoughts, that they may be toward you; my words, that they may be of you; my deeds, that they may be pleasing to you; my burdens, that they may be for you."
