Just as food sustains, repairs, and delights the body, so the Eucharist sustains, repairs, and delights the soul. Without the Body and Blood of Christ, in other words, the spiritual life in us would be compromised by sin, become atrophied and flattened out, and finally would fade away altogether…Since it is Christ himself, who is nothing but divine love, the Eucharist reignites in us that lost fervor; in short; it remits venial sin.
