Each year Catholics are strongly encouraged to participate in the events of Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum. This is the holiest week of our liturgical year. The Sacred Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Virgil comprise the holiest three days of the Church year when we recall and enter into the life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ’s Pascal Mystery.
On Sunday evening, March 25th at 6:00 p.m., Msgr. Vince Gartland will lead an hour-long program to help attendees gain a deeper understanding of the scriptural and liturgical events of Holy Week. Participants will be led through a scriptural timeline of Holy Week beginning with the triumphal entry of Jesus on Palm Sunday to the Resurrection on Easter. This scriptural overview will be followed by an outline the liturgy of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil. An opportunity for questions and comments will follow.
Enter Holy Week with a deeper understanding and greater appreciation for our high holy days and the liturgical rites that accompany them. The more we know, the greater should be our understanding and participation. The program will be held at St. George Church, 1370 River Road, Titusville. All are welcome.
