Winter Advisory:
On the Obligation to Assist at Mass

During the winter storms, please keep the following in mind: while all baptized Catholics are obliged to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, there are circumstances that may excuse you from this obligation:

• If you are ill
• If you are homebound, or
• If severe weather conditions make the trip to Church dangerous to your safety or that of others

In these cases, you are excused from the obligation. However, in these cases, the Church recommends making a spiritual Communion, spending time in prayer, and following a televised Mass.
