Friday, November 11—Veterans Day

This week we honor those who have served our nation in the armed forces. The theme for this year's celebration is "Honor." Honor reflects the military tradition of answering the call to duty...a duty to protect our way of life and the Constitution of the United States. Let us remember to thank our veterans for their service to our nation.

By happy coincidence, November 11 is also the Memorial of St. Martin of Tours. He had been a soldier in the army as a catachumen and was baptied after being discharged. He was later ordained a bishop and assigned to the See of Tours, France.
