Historically, the United States has enjoyed strong protections for religious freedom, and Catholics have thrived here even when a religious minority. There are discouraging signs, however, and many people suggest religious freedom is not as secure as it once was. We will examine some of the history, and the current situation. Please join us.

Snell is Director of the Center on the University and Intellectual Life at the Witherspoon Institute. Prior to his appointment at the Center, he was for many years Professor of Philosophy at Eastern University and the Templeton Honors College. His research interests include the liberal arts, ethics, natural law theory, Thomas Aquinas, the Catholic intellectual tradition, and the work of Bernard Lonergan, SJ.
