New Statue of St. Patrick

Although we have already celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day, we are proposing that our parish acquire a new statue of the Patron of Ireland. Just as the recently replaced Statue of Saint Anthony, the statue of St. Patrick has undergone a number of face-lifts and repairs. Would this not be the time to replace it also? It would certainly compliment the statue of St. Anthony, being of hand carved Lindenwood.

With Saint Anthony positioned by the side altar of St. Joseph, I would like to see a statue of St. Patrick positioned by the side altar of Our Blessed Mother. In this way, the images of our two great saints would complement one another within the sanctuary at St. Anthony’s.

Saint Patrick was chosen with three motives: to honor the many parishioners and former pastors of Irish heritage, to honor the historic link of the church to the St. Patrick’s Parade, and to highlight the celebration of the annual “Irish Unity Mass” that we are pleased to host every March. A photo of the statue is shown at the left. Any parishioner and devotee of St. Patrick is welcome to contribute to the acquisition of this sacred image.
