The most serious risk we run is to grow accustomed to the Eucharist, to take it for granted and, therefore, to trivialize it…Perhaps Jesus repeats what he said of his executioners, “They know not what they do.” In the revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus did not lament so much the sins of the atheists of the time as he did the indifference and coldness of souls consecrated to him.
