One of the ways Christians have traditionally observed Good Friday is by participating in a service on the seven last words of Jesus from the Cross. The tradition was begun in the 17th century by a Jesuit priest in Peru. He developed a series of meditations for Good Friday that included hymns and prayers. It quickly spread around the world.
This year we are introducing this service on Good Friday (March 29) at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows. In addition to the prayers and songs in common, brief meditations on each of the seven words will be offered by Msgr. Gervasio and our deacons.
Please do join us! We would like to make this venerable devotion a part of our parish’s Lenten tradition!
