One of the first people one meets on entering church on Saturday evening or Sunday morning is an usher. The usher has an important role, even if it is not always apparent. An usher’s task is to cordially greet and assist those coming to Mass…a welcoming presence!
An usher keeps an eye and ear open to assist with any needs or concerns of parishioners. During Mass, an usher is responsible for taking up and securing the weekly offerings and at the conclusion of Mass distributes the bulletins. Other tasks may also fall to the usher in accord with the needs of a certain feast day.
