The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins this Wednesday, January 18. It is an observance that has been held annually for over a century.
This year’s theme is from Isaiah 1:17, “Do good; seek justice.” The entire scriptural passage for the theme is Isaiah 1:12-18, lamenting a lack of justice among the People of God. Yet, it also promises redemption by encouraging acts of justice.
Calling to mind our common Christian commitment to justice and mercy, let us pray that our efforts may lead us ever closer to our sisters and brothers in Christ and the fulfillment of our Lord’s own prayer that “all may be one.”
