Thanks to all who visited the recent Shroud of Turin Exhibit sponsored by our “Lumen Christi Cohort.” We hope this Cohort initiative, appropriately held during Lent, inspired and educated the faithful on this extraordinary relic that reveals the extent of the Lord’s passion and death. Ash Wednesday, February 18, is a day of fast and abstinence. Ashes will be distributed at all the Masses that day. Click here for the Mass schedule for Ash Wednesday.
Stations of the Cross will be held every Friday during Lent (except for Good Friday), at 7:00 PM. They will be held in English at Our Lady of Sorrows, and in Creole at St. Anthony Church.
Lent begins on Wednesday, February 18. We will be collecting blessed palms through February 15, to be burned for use on Ash Wednesday. Containers will be at the doors of both churches. Please bring loose palms only, no plastic bags, paper bags, rubber bands, plastic ties, or clips. Thank you!
Volunteers are needed to help decorate Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Good Friday immediately after The Seven Last Words Service (approximately 7:30 pm). This is a great opportunity for our students to receive service hours. Help us adorn the Lord’s House for the celebration of His Resurrection!
In addition to the to the usual 7:00 and 9:00 am weekday Masses, we invite you to take part in these opportunities to observe the Lenten Season this week--click here for the list.
Remember man that you are dust, and unto dust you will return. This year the penitential season of Lent begins on March 5. Please bring in all your palms from last year to be burned and used for ashes on Ash Wednesday. Place your palms in the containers at all church exit doors on February 22 through March 2.
The Easter appeal is one of the two most important collections of the year. Your generosity in this collection helps Our Lady of Sorrows-Saint Anthony to meet many expenses—not only the care of buildings and grounds but our obligations to our employees and our diocese. Please be as generous as your means allow.
