Friday, June 27 is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and a World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. Join us this Friday at Mass to honor and thank the Lord for the immensity of His love.

The month of June is singled out, in a particular way, for devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. To celebrate the Heart of Christ means to turn toward the profound center of the Person of the Savior, that center which the Bible identifies precisely as his Heart, seat of the love that has redeemed the world. ∼Pope St. John Paul II, Angelus June 24, 2002

Devotion to the Heart of Christ existed in the Middle Ages and appears as a liturgical feast in 1675 following the apparitions of Our Lord to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. Click here for more information.

Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, asking her to promote the practice of frequent Holy Communion, especially on the First Friday of every month, and to establish a feast day on the Friday following the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. In these apparitions, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was given to know the need for reparation for sin, and to respond to Christ's love. The month of June is dedicated to honoring the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
