A letter was received last week, acknowledging the receipt of $17,000 for the mission of the Filippini Sisters in Ethiopia. The funds were raised through our parish’s Lenten work of charity.

Tens of thousands of couples have healed their marriages through Retrouvaille (pronounced Retro-vy). It provides help for marriage problems, difficulties or crises, and couples learn to build communication skills and to increase intimacy. Click here for more information, and if you know anyone who could benefit from this program, please pass this on.

Four summer sessions will be held for adults looking to convert to the Catholic faith, as well as those who need to complete their Sacraments. Click here for the dates and times of these sessions.

Last Friday, July 3, we concluded our summer “intensive” religious education classes.. this two week program is an alternative to the regular classes that are held weekly from September through May. Click here for more information.

An important discipline in the life of the Spirit is spiritual reading. Through spiritual reading we have some say over what enters our minds. There are so many good books about the lives of holy men and women, about remarkable examples of peace-making, about communities that bring life to the poor and the oppressed, and the spiritual life itself. This summer, try packing a good spiritual book to read on your vacation, or settle on the couch for a few moments a day with a really "good" book!

In honor of our nation's 250th birthday, our parish is sponsoring a trip to Philadelphia, featuring Old St. Joseph's Church (the first in the city of Philadelphia), lunch, and the Museum of the American Revolution. Click here for details.
