The blessing of pets will take place on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi @10 AM on Saturday, Oct. 4 (rain date/time: 3 PM. on Sunday, Oct. 5), at the Peace Garden at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

October is Respect Life Month, and we are asking all parishioners who know how to crochet, knit, quilt, etc. to make a baby blanket during October for the local crisis pregnancy center. Give these mothers the gift of knowing someone cares enough to create a soft, bright, welcoming blanket for their baby. Click here for more information.

Please join us at the New Jersey Bishops' Mass for Life, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, in Trenton, on Thursday, September 25. Then, a short walk away at the Statehouse Annex, the NJ Rally & March for Life will be held at 11:00 AM. Click here for details.
On September 17 & 18, the priests of our diocese will gather for their annual convocation. Please pray for them during these special days. Since our priests will be away, our Mass schedule on these two days only will be adjusted: at 7:00 AM we will have a Communion Service celebrated by one of our deacons; at 9:00 AM a guest priest will celebrate Mass.
Like Bingo? Join us on Friday, September 19, in the cafeteria at Our Lady of Sorrows school! Games begin at 7:00, but the doors open at 6. Admission is $35, paid at the door, and includes 13 games and 50/50.
History was made recently when Planned Parenthood and other big businesses were banned from receiving federal Medicaid dollars for a period of one year. However, Planned Parenthood sued, and a preliminary court ordered injunction was granted that requires taxpayer funding to continue. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops invites Catholics to pray daily throughout this month to end taxpayer funding of the abortion industry, invoking St. Joseph, Defender of Life. This year, the Catholic Book Club will be reading "Jesus and the Dead Sea Scrolls" by John Bergsma. The Book Club meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month, in either the Church Meeting Room or the Church Library. At each meeting, we discuss a selection from the current work. Come join us!
The Prayer Shawl group will meet this month on September 15, at 1:00 PM, in the Church Meeting Room at Our Lady of Sorrows. Our Mission is to create prayer shawls, lap robes, and dialysis blankets for those under treatment, and for those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We also create baby blankets for distribution at local Pro-Life pregnancy centers. We are always delighted to welcome new members, even if you don't yet know how to crochet.
